This week we are focusing on keeping your blood sugar steadier throughout the day.

Your liver plays an important role in managing both blood sugar and fats. When the body regularly receives more sugar, refined carbohydrate or alcohol than it needs, some of this excess energy can be converted into triglycerides and stored in the liver.

The goal is not to remove carbohydrates completely. Instead, we want to create more balanced meals.

Try to include:

• A good source of protein at each meal
• Plenty of vegetables
• A moderate portion of higher-fibre carbohydrate
• Healthy fats such as olive oil, nuts or seeds

This week, pay particular attention to sugary drinks, sweets, biscuits, cakes and frequent refined snacks. These can cause blood sugar to rise quickly and may contribute to raised triglycerides.

A short walk after eating can also help your body use glucose more effectively. Start with just 10–15 minutes after one meal each day.

Your three goals this week are:

  1. Eat a protein-rich breakfast each day.

  2. Walk for 10–15 minutes after one meal.

  3. Swap one sugary or refined snack for a more balanced option.

Small consistent changes are much more useful than trying to follow a perfect diet for a few days.
