The Foods That Slip Through Too Easily
After gastric sleeve surgery, some foods feel harder to tolerate and others go down very easily. The problem is that the easiest foods are often the ones that give the least nourishment and are easiest to overeat. These are often called slider foods because they “slide” through the stomach pouch quickly and don’t create the same feeling of fullness or satisfaction.
Examples of common slider foods:
- crisps
- chocolate
- biscuits
- ice cream
- mashed or soft processed foods
- sweet yogurts
- cereal bars
- crackers
- sugary drinks
- creamy coffees
- nibbling toast or bread throughout the day
Important point:
These foods are not “bad” because they are evil — they are just often too easy to rely on when you are tired, stressed, emotional, or not planning ahead.
