Post Surgery phase
You are moving from:
liquid → purée → soft foods → more regular meals
So, I recommend:
- very small portions to start
- chew each mouthful thoroughly
- avoid drinking with meals and focus on food
- there is a risk of stool dumping with high sugar intake like chocolate
Medication implications
Metformin
- Reduces ↓ B12 absorption – Check with a doctor’s blood test B12 deficiency signs include fatigue and tingling
- Stomach upsets are possible as side effects include loose stools and bloating
- needs protein with meals for tolerance
Duloxetine (SNRI)
- can reduce appetite → schedule eating, not hunger-based feeling.
- can increase sweating hydrate between meals
- can raise Blood Pressure slightly (watch with ramipril)
- protein intake supports neurotransmitters with rich tyrosine foods → beef, turkey, eggs
Ramipril
- monitor potassium if using supplements, I’ve contacted Whole Supp to see how much is in the Meal Replacement powder.
Each serving of Whole Supp contains 400 mg of potassium (20% of RI). - good hydration is important
Telfast
- avoid taking with fruit juice (reduces absorption)
